Underpass Load test and Box Jacking
Green Line in Bologna, Italy

Description

Underpass Load Test and Box Jacking for the Bologna Green Line project.

Detailed design and box jacking during a rail closure for the construction of a new railway underpass along “Via di Corticella”.
Prior to jacking, we carried out a load test using our tension tie system, which allows us to measure deflection without applying loads on the top slab.

The 3300 ton underpass was jacked with “open pit” methodology in 9 hours during a full railway line interruption.
